Key words: low molecular weight heparin, enoxaparin sodium (clexane), thoracic surgery, bleeding, clotted hemothorax.
Summary. Objectives. We investigated usability of enoxaparin sodium (clexane) for prevention of clotted hemothorax in thoracic surgery.
Methods and results. We did not observe increased post-operative bleeding in pleural cavity.
Conclusions. Due to a small number of patients involved, statistical differences were not observed. However, clinical assessement of enoxapin sodium tended to be effective for prevention of clotted hemothorax after thoracic surgery interventions.
