Chlamydia trachomatis infection among sexually active adolescent girls

Summary. Sexually transmitted diseases are the commonest infectious diseases in the world. According to WHO data, incidence of syphilis is about 12 mln people, of gonorrhoea – 62 mln and chlamydia infection – 89 mln per year. Prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis infection in the population of sexually active adolescents reaches 24–30%, accompanying Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection is found in 15–50%. Therefore programmes of sexual education of young people are so important. The basis of this education should be made by parents, family practitioners and pediatritians. Educational programmes should be individualised according to age groups.
